Merry Christmas! 2012
The image above is the illustration I did for my personal Christmas card this year. The image below was also made into a card, I sent it to some people who I thought might be interested in seeing an alternate take on the final full color piece. It was hard to decide on a final image for the card, I went through a lot of sketching and experimenting before reaching something I was happy with.
As far as the subject matter of the card is concerned, I used one of my favorite lines from one of my favorite Christmas songs as inspiration. Many of the cards I have done in the past were more secular and focused on other aspects of the Christmas/Holiday season. This year I wanted to do something that touched on the real reason for the season. I hope you enjoy these images and that you have a wonderful holiday season full of love, family and friends. Let's keep the spirit all year, as it should be. That's one of my resolutions.
Above: I really like this sketch. I think this Drummer Boy is really my definitive version. I did not have time to do a full color version of this. I may sit down and do one if I find some time.
Above: A full color, finished alternative take that I chose not to go with for the card.
Above: Messing in MS Paint, haha. Liked the way this looked, cool effect.
Above and below: some exploration sketches. Trying to find my version of the Drummer Boy.
Thanks for visiting. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
