Best Gift Ever... I turned 26 yesterday. Wow, feels weird typing that out. I really don't feel like I am that old, haha.
Anyway, my younger bro blew my mind by surprising me with the most incredibly awesome gift ever: An Eric Canete commission.
My bro asked me months and months ago what I would want if I could have one truly amazing thing and I told him I would commission Eric Canete to do his rendition of the scene from "The NeverEnding Story" where Atreyu faces off against the Gmork. I've loved the film since I was a kid and that scene was always one of my favorites even though it scared the heck out of me when I was little. It also struck me as something unique that an artist with a true vision like Eric could really have fun with. So, my bro goes behind my back and makes it happen. I was totally blown away, he spent way too much money and I don't know how I can ever follow this up once his birthday comes around, haha. For now I will just be super thankful and let him know how much I truly appreciate and cherish this awesome gift.
Eric clearly knocked this one out of the park. He went above and beyond the call of the original commission request and created an amazing piece of art. The image featured in this post is the black and white scan Eric sent us. The original is even cooler in person as you can see Eric's under drawing and all the intricacies of the line work.
Check out Eric's stuff here: http://kahnehteh.blogspot.com/
I love this piece of artwork on so many levels. It will hang close by my drawing table forever as a source of inspiration. I just had to show this off on here. Thanks again, bro!!! Thanks Eric!!
As always, thanks for visiting!
