Teenage Mutant Ninja Sketch Dump!!!
Fellow blogger, Joe Romano, check his work here http://joeromano2.blogspot.com/, has suggested a new sketch challenge. Joe has called on his fellow sketchsters to re-imagine one of our favorite childhood TV shows. I have been doing some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sketches recently so my choice of subject matter was easy. TMNT was one of my favorite properties as a kid. I loved the show, the movies, the toys and all the countless other licensed products with the Turtles' image slapped on them. I have been checking out the old TMNT cartoon show and some of the newer comics lately. I've realized I still love the Turtles! It's such a fun property with crazy characters and story lines, there's endless appeal. There is also the ever powerful nostalgia in which I love to indulge from time to time. Anyway, what this all boils down to is that it was not hard for me to have a good time banging out a pile of TMNT related sketches! I didn't make any major changes to the general design of the Turtles, I just put them through my filter. So, here they are, hope you dig 'em.
Preliminary sketch for the top image in this post. (Above)

This final image is special. It's special because it represents a rare, rare event in my sketching history. My younger (by 2 years) brother Brian collaborated with me on it. Brian painstakingly spent a whole minute and a half inking over my carefully crafted pencils. The results are this gorgeous mutant masterpiece. I hope my sarcasm is coming through in this text. Haha, anyway I had to post this because it's something that just doesn't happen often and I kind of like seeing how Brian interprets my sketches. I think I'll encourage him to ink some more stuff of mine in the future.

OK, that does it for the TMNT stuff for now. I like both the sketch challenges we bloggers have done so far and I would like to do more sketches with both of these themes in mind. So, keep your eyes here for more sketches! I am going to try and eventually come up with an interesting sketch idea to suggest too.
Thanks for dropping by!

Tom great pick, TMNT are a classic. The sketches look great. Nice of you to get your little brother involved. I really like the first one, good stuff as always. Thanks for the plug for my blog by the way, much appreicated
Oh man this means I am the last to post. I am going to have to make 'em good to follow these! I love them all, but there is something really amazing about the contour line drawing above the single pic of Raphael. Just outstanding!
Thanks for checking them out, guys. The feedback is much appreciated. Jason, can't wait to see what you come up with!
