Fanart...

I don't do a lot of fanart. I usually just feel that I really can't do justice to the great creations of others that I admire. However, Sean "Cheeks" Galloway (http://cheeks-74.deviantart.com/) recently posted in a journal on Deviant Art (http://www.deviantart.com/) concerning fanart for his original creation "Bastion's 7". I love Galloway's work and his Bastion's 7 stuff blows me away, I was inspired to try my hand at one of the characters. So, I drew Kai on a hover-board. I didn't do the character justice, as expected, but I think the drawing has some value. The final "tight" pencil is out of the ordinary for me as I don't do a lot of tight work like that, though I really enjoyed doing this and the results were pretty cool in my opinion, though I'll look at it again in a few days and probably hate it.

Moving right along, the very first image in this post is the final pencil piece. The drawing directly below is a quick sloppy marker version, and below that is the prelim sketch that started the ball rolling.

I'll leave you with a little bonus doodle, in the fanart tradition sort of, it's a sloppy Link from the Zelda games and a big ogre. Maybe I'll try a tight, more accurate Link when I get a chance.

Other than this fun stuff here, my bud Jon and I have been hard at work on our comic for Comic Con New York 2007. I am so pumped to exhibit with Bontebok Design (www.bontebokdesign.com), hopefully the book is all done in time, we are adding the finishing touches now. I will throw up some preview panels on this blog soon, I want some opinions and hype from my army of blog readers!

'Suppose that's all for now. Thanks for dropping by, hope you enjoy the scribbles!

Thanks man. I posted some of this stuff over on Deviant Art too. Actually got some feedback from Cheeks himself which was nice.
