MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS! (like those festive colors!?) part 1?
Above: Santa, caught!

I love the holiday season. Above are a few quick Santa doodles I've done as I slowly get into the holiday spirit.

The first (badly) watercolored image is a prelim for a Christmas Countdown calendar. I make one every year for my family. The final is done in acrylic paint on canvas. It's a great tradition, I love making them.

I put the "part 1?" in the title of this post because I have a few other Christmas/holiday pieces I would like to share. There is some nice stuff my friend Jon and I worked on for a Christmas card we put together to send to friends and family from our Bontebok Design venture. www.bontebokdesign.com. If anyone is interested once you've seen the images or even just on faith, you can give me your mailing address and I'd be happy to send you a card. Hopefully I will get this stuff up soon for people to check out, hopefully before Christmas Day.

Oh, and I wanted to mention something not holiday related. There is currently a J.C. Leyendecker Exhibit showing at the Haggin Museum in California. Visit http://www.hagginmuseum.org/ for more information. Click on the "Photo Gallery" link to see some of the pieces they have in the show. It's amazing stuff. The show will be travelling. Check out http://www.smithkramer.com/exhibitions.php to see where and when you may be able to catch the exhibit at a gallery near you! I have to wait until May and/or June for the show to get to New York and Long Island. I am already very excited to see such a fine collection of Leyendecker's originals, I can't wait! I spoke to a woman who works at the museum and she mentioned that a private Leyendecker collector may be putting together a book collecting the contents of the exhibit as well as a larger Leyendecker book. This is awesome news, I hope it happens. Check this show out if you get a chance, at least look through the images on the museum site.

Ok, long post, sorry. Merry Christmas (still more festive colors!) and Happy Holidays to all who wander by this little blog!

As always, thanks for visiting.
