Well, J.C. Leyendecker is one damn hard act to follow, but here goes nothing!

I've got some fresh sketches to share. Some fun, loose stuff done between working on pages for the comic I am putting together with my buddy Jon for our Bontebok Design (www.bontebokdesign.com) venture. I should probably start sharing some of that work too, I may start another blog totally for Bontebok Design stuff.

Alright, so nothing much to say about these sketches. I've been messing with a marker, doing a quick prelim blue pencil, or regular pencil rough then doing super quick storkes with the marker. The goal is to capture gesture and energy with a few simple lines. The results are far from masterful, but I'm having fun! Everything else is pen or pencil, standard imagination doodles.

The Neil Patrick Harris piece is kind of funny. I know I spelled the name wrong on the actual sketch, whatever, it was late at night and I got "t" happy. This sketch was not meant to be a caricature at all, I was just doodling and when I was done it looked like grown up Doogie, so I wrote a question to myself on the sheet of paper wondering why the hell I'd drawn that and associated it with NPH. I realized that I had seen a brief news feature on the actor earlier that day. I don't think that had much to do with this drawing but then again, who knows... Well, I clearly think the sketch looks like Neil, though angry and creepy, what do you think?

I am going to try and throw together another post featuring one of my all-time favorite artists soon, hopefully before the end of the week. I'd like to keep that schedule if time permits, one art post and one artist feature post per week, that'd be good stuff.
