Minot the Robot dancing and sketches from the "Out of Picture" launch party!Thought I'd post these sketches of Minot and some other robot characters that may turn up in his world. These sketches can also be found in the Minot section on www.bontebokdesign.com
The Out of Picture launch party was awesome. It was hot as hell but worth the sweaty crowds to chat up the talented artists and get some fun sketches in my copy of the book. Wood and I met Peter de Seve in person, a big deal because he is one of my favorite artists and because he helped me on a project in high school and I never really got to meet him and thank him, so I did that last night. He drew a cool Scrat from "Ice Age" for me. I met Daniel Lopez Munoz and told him he needs to get a website so I can oggle more of his incredible work. Nash Dunnigan had some encouraging advice on getting started in the animation business and being an artist in general. Some of these sketches are actually from an earlier trip to the MOCCA Art Expo where I initially purchased the book. That's where I met Robert Mackenzie, Michael Knapp, and Vincent Nguyen and they all did awesome sketches. The best news of the night was that there will be a second "Out of Picture" book with an expanded list of contributors. I'm sure it will be amazing and I can't wait. Peter de Seve also revealed that he is working on getting a book of his color illustrations put together, very exciting. A truly great night.

Lautrette, thanks so much for stopping by. The feedback is appreciated. I love your stuff. I'm glad I found your blog through Andrea Blasich's blog links.
That's funny how you were speaking to Benoit moments before discovering a sketch by him done for some random fan. It is a small world isn't it? Benoit was very kind the night of the signing, taking the time to do great sketches in many peoples' books.
