I want to mention an amazing book I picked up over the weekend at the MOCCA Comic Art Expo titled "Out of Picture". This book contains short comic stories by several extremely talented artists who work or have worked at Blue Sky Studios, the studio which produced the animated "Ice Age" films.

This book is a joy to look at and to read. One can't ask for more from a graphic story anthology. Each contributing artist has their own totally unique vision. The three stand out stories for me as far as the art style, plot, and overall execution are the Peter de Seve, Greg Couch, and Daniel Lopez Munoz contributions. Peter de Seve is one of my all time favorite illustrators, so my enjoying his story was no surprise. I have never seen his work presented in a comic book format so that was nice. He really did a great story that fit his style very well. Greg Couch has a great cartoony, distorted, moody style perfect for the very cool noir story he has put together. The real surprise of the book was Daniel Lopez Munoz. I had never heard of him before reading this book. His story blew me away. His style is very expressive and animated with a unique kind of controlled distortion/exaggeration. This man needs to get more work in print and get a website.

Every artist who worked on this book is a monster talent. Buy this book if you have the chance, you'll love it. Check out www.outofpicture.com for more info.

The above image is from the Daniel Lopez Munoz story, "Silent Echoes" which is featured in the book.
